Art & film are major drivers when I’m designing new fashion collection concepts, creating innovative dream worlds for my clientele

MANNINO COLLECTION I (S/S 2018) CONCEPT

MANNINO's debut collection introduces us to the glamorous, carefree world of the MANNINO woman. I wanted to express her overt, regal glamour and drew inspiration from Baz Luhrman’s Romeo and Juliet, Nadia Lee Cohen’s nostalgic photography, and old Hollywood sirens, including Marilyn Monroe. The MANNINO woman is exquisite and effortless, she dresses for pleasure with purpose, believing that every occasion, from lounging around the house to attending an art opening, has a perfect, corresponding outfit. Her life is a beautiful fantasy and she dresses as such, boldly expressing herself through the things she wears and the adventures she partakes.

MANNINO COLLECTION II (F/W 2018) CONCEPT

The concept for MANNINO collection II is mystical and haunting. Inspired by black magic, notably the film The Love Witch, and Dario Argento's visually-enchanting horror film, Suspiria, I drew inspiration from 70s ballet culture, tools of witchcraft, and art deco design, using Argento’s bold, primary color palette. The initial mood board combines delicate damsel femininity with sharp, bold architecture and design elements to illustrate a woman bound by her own demons, trapped in a state of romanticized psychosis.
